Custom-Built Bar Project in Bridgnorth
The Challenges
The brief called for a bar that was both breathtaking and practical — a true showpiece that could host in style, yet serve every functional need without compromise. Balancing drama with usability was at the heart of the challenge.
With a wall soaring over three and a half metres, the risk was either overwhelming the space with too much detail or leaving it feeling underwhelming. Striking the right balance of proportion, storage, and display was key to doing justice to the outbuilding’s scale.
Incorporating refrigerators seamlessly was no small task. We needed to ensure correct ventilation and performance for longevity, while still keeping the cabinetry elegant and unified — so the appliances became part of the design, not a distraction from it.
The Successes
Warm veneered oak with two distinct stains created rich storage sections, framed with deep black-stained trims that add definition and drama. Paired with a beautifully illuminated stone splashback, the result is striking and sophisticated.
By collaborating closely with the client, we found harmony between hidden storage and eye-catching display. A combination of drawers, cupboards, and creative bottle storage — from pigeon holes to herringbone to open shelving — turned the grand wall into both a functional and breathtaking feature.
The push-to-open refrigerators became an elegant part of the design, encased in bespoke cabinetry that balances practicality with poise. Thoughtful detailing ensures they work effortlessly while blending into the overall composition, keeping the focus on the bar’s striking presence.
